Props & 'Setting the scene'

Setting: Other than the intense shooting in London, we had various footage shot inside of school involving props and careful use of setting. For example, there was scene shot at a house. We wanted to replicate a scene from Fight Club, where our protagonist first discovers his abilities, as shown below;

From the picture above, we decided to place our protagonist on a sofa, the prop we used for this scene was a TV remote, like shown in the Fight Club, and this was to signify that our protagonist was watching TV with the devastating events unfolding before him. In same scene, we used a newspaper on the recent tsunami in Japan to create the effect that our protagonist was responsible for what had happened.

....

The second location filmed within our school we decided to place our protagonist on a white background, placing our protagonist on a chair. Nonetheless, we then shut/turned off all the light shining in the room to create a film noir effect.

Furthermore, in order to create the neo-noir Sin City effect we had to decide what colour we were going to isolate in the scene. We picked the red fire extinguisher for that particular scene. Overall, our movie was relatively less based on props but our use of editing.

  1. Some really effective planning here and this sequence is quite unnerving.
